Friday 17th April 2020 Kia ora Kererū 11-14 whānau, We hope you are all well and are managing during these unprecedented times. We are looking forward to connecting with you all daily. Message for children: Morena children and welcome to our third online learning session. Each day I will be sending you an email with ideas for learning. How did you go making up a timetable for the day yesterday? Have a look at the school blog and see some of the work that your classmates have been doing. The daily template is on the blog too under the Home Learning and Notices tab. Message for whānau: Morena families, here’s our suggested learning for the day. Nicky, Nikki, Kim and Louise :) Today we are providing the following opportunities for learning... Literacy Poetry On our normal Friday we would give you a poem to learn and illustrate. Today we are looking at acrostic poems. Can you write and illustrate a poem about yourself? You can write a word for each letter or challenge yourself and write a sentence for each line. Nervous around spiders Interested in animals Can tell funny jokes Kids in her class are awesome Yellow, green and pink are colours she loves Reading Read a favourite book to a pet or a sibling. You might want to take a photo and send it to your teacher. Spelling Words (These will start next week) Numeracy Strand - Time
Physical Health & Wellbeing Fitness Circuit Set up a fitness circuit on your lawn or driveway. If you have chalk you could write each activity. 30 secs at each activity, 30 secs break. The whole family can join in. Suggested activities: Star jumps, burpees, ski jumps over a line, high knees up, press-ups, shuttle runs down the drive, running on the spot. The Arts On our blog, we have added some new songs. Choose one to learn this week Visual Art Make sure you have finished Wednesday’s and Thursday’s art challenges before moving onto today’s. Using this week’s STEM challenge - Draw the bridge you created. Can you make it look 3D? Think about the materials you used, the colours and any special features it may have. (You may also choose to draw today’s fitness circuit if you wish) Science & Technology STEM Challenge for the week - who can make the longest bridge? Wow, there have been some amazing bridge pictures sent in! I especially like the ones where lego figures are observing safe social distancing! If you have a bridge picture to send through still, do it! And if you’re interested in learning a bit more about bridges and how the structures work on a larger scale here are a couple of videos to check out. Maybe you can work out what kind of bridge you made. What makes a bridge strong The kids should see this - spaghetti bridges Jokes Question: How do all the oceans say hello to each other?
